Students will use different types of skates to determine which one will roll the farthest. They will use those measurements to create a bar graph to show their results.

4TH GRADE LESSON:

Students will use a ramp and a skate to determine how mass and angle effect the distance and speed of an object.

5TH GRADE LESSON:

Using a skate, a ramp and different surfaces, students will investigate what causes skates to roll differently on varied floors.

6TH-8TH GRADE LESSON:

Students will assemble a skate, determine what makes it roll straight, and learn what simple machines are.

In all lessons students will solve real world math problems that occur in a skating rink.
